1. SOUNDBITE (English) Lisa Edelstein/Actor:
“This year is a little strange because of the disaster in Haiti. I think that it is important that we all take a moment during the press line to acknowledge how much people need help and how little it takes to actually help. I think the Red Cross, you can even text them and five dollars will go on your phone bill and you can give to the relief effort in Haiti. But a lot of organizations are doing amazing things. If there is ever a reason to be here today it would be to talk about that.”
2. SOUNDBITE (English) Maria Bello/Actor:
“I have worked in Haiti. Our organization, Artist for Peace and Justice. We have worked in Haiti for years. Father Rick Frechette who is on the ground. I spoke to him yesterday morning, and he said, ”Whatever you do, please get out and tell people to put on their work gloves and boots and get down here and help dig my people out.” They need so much help right now. Our Organization, Artist for Peace and Justice dot com, a hundred percent of the proceeds go right to the people on the ground, the Haitian people, to Father, we are wiring money there as we speak. So please go to our website. If you can give a dollar, ten dollars, we would appreciate it.”
3. SOUNDBITE (English) Taraji P. Henson/Actor:
“Oh yes, I have donated money, I have texted every number. My son and I, like I said, we went through our closets last night. I have five pair of the same style jeans. What is that about? See, come on, you know. These people have nothing. Then they lost the little bit they had. It is all going to Haiti, everything. I have stacks of sneakers that I get free from Nike. I may have worn once or twice. We take these things for granted. I felt so horrible. I felt so greedy last night. So all of it is going to Haiti. I am physically myself, not an assistant, me and my son are packing the bag, the things up. We are actually taking them to were they need to go. Anybody can donate money. I just feel so much better because, people look to me because what I do, and I can”t preach it if I”m not doing it. I can tweet all day long, but what is a tweet if you aren”t doing anything. Hint, hint to all the tweeter twitter people.”
4. SOUNDBITE (English) Rachel Bilson/Actor:
“I think that we are world and we are all one. So if one country is affected, we are all affected. I think people donating and doing all you can is very important.”
5. SOUNDBITE (English) Olivia Wilde/Actor:
“It did break my heart. I was just standing in a lot of the buildings that are no longer there. I was playing with kids that probably no longer there. I have a little school that is no longer there. It kills me not to be there helping, but maybe here is where I can be really effective. If we can get the word out, get people excited about donating, then we have done our jobs.”
6. SOUNDBITE (English) Philip Block/Celebrity stylist:
“So for Golden Globes, we are getting special gowns from all the celebrities going to the event. Starting next week, they will be auctioned off at www dot clothes off our back dot com. All the proceeds will be going to the Red Cross to help with the relief in Haiti.”
7. SOUNDBITE (English) Bailee Madison/Actor, ”Brothers”:
8. SOUNDBITE (English) Monique Coleman/Actor:
9. SOUNDBITE (English) Nelsan Elli/Actor, ”True Blood”:
10. SOUNDBITE (English) Joey Lawrence/Actor:
“It is just unbelievable what is happening in that nation. The destruction is so catastrophic. I”ve seen pictures and the more pictures that come in, it is like what happened when Katrina hit. Everybody, it is like ten times worse. It is just obliteration of a society. I mean I have never actually seen pictures so bad in my life.”
